Reiner was a veteran comedian and actor who managed to be relevant for decades, busily maintaining his career and popularity from the day he joined Sid Caesar’s “Your Show of Shows” in 1950 right up to his part in the big-screen “Ocean’s Eleven” family and his role as Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer’s stepfather on “Two and a Half Men.” He was also adept at social media. He maintained a lively presence on Twitter up until the last day of his life. Check out Carl Reiner on David Letterman.

My idol, Carl Reiner, wrote about the human comedy. He had a deeper understanding of the human condition, than I think even he was aware of. Kind, gentle, compassionate, empathetic and wise. His scripts were never just funny, they always had something to say about us.
